for a Communications Company
A diversified communications company seeks to create and sell solutions to business customers across the U.S. The company has an array of products and services that can be leveraged (e.g., hosting, IP backbone, and professional services). Implementing this strategy requires solutions design, partnerships and alliances formation, distribution and marketing plan creation, etc. SimpatiCo, a long-time trusted advisor, is asked to play a key role on the team responsible for organizational objectives and financial results.


       SimpatiCo's Role


Working with the Wireless division, Corporate Business Development, and other business units, SimpatiCo provided subject matter expertise, observations, detailed analyses, and frameworks:

  • Definition of potential solutions for the hotels/resorts and convention/event business sectors, including customer benefits, profile of typical buyers, degree of system integration required, competitive overview, and key components of revenue generation
  • Detailed business models (revenue and cost) for two hotel/resort solutions; models are structured to be used as comprehensive market or sector decision-making tools as well as for the development and evaluation of a specific customer solution or partnership opportunity
  • Articulation of current solutions, players, and trends in the manufacturing sector; analysis of WLAN opportunities
  • Quantification of the value created within a "representative" manufacturing solution; indication of revenue and margin expectations for value components delivered by the company and those delivered by partners
  • Identification of potential partners and participation in alliance discussions with professional services and handheld device players
  • Development of communication presentations to build awareness and understanding and to share team progress and findings with relevant business units, potential customers, and partners
  • Facilitation of work sessions involving Corporate Strategy, Business Development, and Finance, as well as several product and service business units

 

       Results


Within a few months, the Wireless division has a clear path for delivering mobile business solutions. Simultaneously, significant leadership and organizational changes initiated at the highest levels within the company more effectively enable the development and delivery of total business solutions. Members of the Wireless team are viewed as highly knowledgeable and key participants in the new, broader endeavor, having completed solid analyses, initiated partnership discussions, and begun to fill a sales pipeline. SimpatiCo has been asked by Business Development to contribute to the Corporate business case, the definition of the components of a total solution, and the development of required capabilities.
