Developing Requirements for a Stored Value Card Order Management System
A division of a leading payments provider is looking to meet growth targets within the stored value card market. Improving productivity in card order management is a key enabler. After analysis, it is determined installation of an automated system is required. A consulting company that has been working within the division is asked to spearhead the project.

SimpatiCo is asked by the consulting company to collaborate with a diverse team of consultants, system developers, and integrators based on a strong background in business case development and reengineering methodology.

       SimpatiCo's Role


SimpatiCo was a member of a 10+ person team responsible for initial stages of system development and installation. Specific project involvement included the following:

  • Participated in summarization of benefits case based on analysis of opportunities across the division; resulted in focus on card order management system implementation project
  • Drove set up of project management tools such as client update mechanism and team data collection templates
  • Validated To-Be process flows for multiple aspects of card order management including pricing, order initiation and tracking, and art and data management
  • Translated To-Be process flows into workflow logic required for the software development tool
  • Gathered forms and other documentation and developed potential redesigns to further improve efficiency and effectiveness of the new system
  • Worked with users to define business requirements; for example: tasks, actors, notification and escalation requirements, exception handling, and service levels agreements
  • Identified and interviewed key stakeholders to ensure relevant perspectives regarding system inputs and outputs were considered
  • Developed high-level, To-Be flows for account planning, customer issue resolution, and supplier management, processes within other areas of the division connected to the order management system

 

       Results


The division has a solid set of requirements upon which a system is being built. The user community is excited about the ways the system will make their job easier and provide additional services to customers. The consulting company has identified additional areas of benefit and is positioned to help the division continue down a path toward achieving growth targets.
